Shishtawouk 'Middle Eastern Chicken Skewers'

Ingredients:

  • 1kg diced chicken breast or thigh
  • 1 heaped tablespoon of garlic dip (toum), see note 
  • 1 heaped tablesooon greek yoghurt
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon capsicum paste, see note 
  • 1 teaspoon dry oregano
  • 1 teaspoon chicken stock powder
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  • In a bowl, add the cubed chicken along with the rest of the ingredients. Coat well.
  • Cover & refrigerate for a minimum of 4 hours.
  • Thread through some skewers & cook to your liking, BBQ is preferred for optimal flavour but they're just as delicious grilled or pan fried.

Serve with toum (Lebanese garlic dip), Tabouli & fries.
