Cheesesteak Subs

Ingredients

  • 1kg thinly sliced sirloin steak
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 small green capsicum 
  • 200g sliced mushrooms 
  • 1 packet French onion soup mix
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper & salt to taste
  • Mayonnaise for spreading 
  • Sliced Swiss or Provolone cheese, can sub for shredded mozzarella
  • Fresh bread rolls 

Method:

  • First slice your steak against the grain, for best results freeze for 30 minutes to aid in slicing. 
  • In some olive oil fry steak until only just browned, set aside.
  • In the same pan melt some butter & add the mushrooms, onions & capsicum. Cook for a few minutes until they take on some colour & start caramelising before adding the steak back in. 
  • Add the French onion soup mix, black pepper, salt if needed, Worcestershire sauce & mix. Top with cheese, cover until melted. 
  • Add to buns with mayonnaise. Enjoy!
